Your privacy matters. This policy explains what information The Ritual collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We keep this short and plain.
The Ritual is a trading journal and discipline platform operated by a sole developer based in Australia. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to The Ritual's operator.

Account data. When you sign up, we collect your email address and any display name you choose to set.
Trading journal data. Everything you log in the app — journal entries, individual trades, P&L, reflections, setup notes, checklist completions, and any personal trading context you add in Settings. This is your data, stored on your behalf.
Settings and preferences. Your timezone, symbols, broker URLs, discipline weights, and other configuration choices.
XP and progress data. Your experience points, rank, streaks, and perfect-day history generated from your activity.
Basic usage data. Standard server logs may include your IP address, browser type, and pages accessed. These are used for debugging and security only and are not used to build marketing profiles.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party.
We rely on the following sub-processors to operate the service:

Each of these providers maintains their own privacy practices. We choose providers with strong security standards and data protection commitments.
When you use The Oracle (chat or observations), we send relevant context from your account — including recent journal entries, trade history, and any personal context you have written in Settings — to Anthropic's Claude API. This data is processed by Anthropic to generate a response.
Anthropic's API usage policies govern how your data is handled on their side. We recommend reviewing Anthropic's Privacy Policy if you have questions about AI data handling.
You can clear The Oracle's accumulated observations at any time from Settings → The Oracle → Clear Memory. You can also choose not to use The Oracle — all other features work without it.
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. The Ritual uses browser localStorage to store your authentication session token, active account selection, and a few user preferences. This data stays on your device and is not shared with third parties.
No third-party analytics cookies are set by The Ritual.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account), all personal data — journal entries, trades, AI memory, settings, and your login credentials — is permanently deleted. Residual backup copies may persist for up to 30 days before being purged.
You can also delete all journal data while keeping your account via Settings → Danger Zone → Delete All Data.

Your data is stored in Supabase with row-level security — each user can only access their own records. Connections are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Authentication uses Supabase's managed auth with industry-standard token handling.
No system is perfectly secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to hello@theritual.app.
The Ritual is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
